If you have visited this cinema and would like to say a few words about it to be posted here, please e-mail me. This from Jim Collins: 'Just a few lines about the Central (old Astor) cinema. I returned from uni, and they've finally sorted out the seats - they actually have leg room now!!! The big screen is still there (the second biggest in the South West apparently) and the 3rd or 4th is the smallest screen I have ever been in. No cup holders, and only allowing student discount on Monday to Thursday.' This from Trevor Garman: 'They Fail to Honour Student/OAP discounts on some shows even Mon to Thurs, despite no signs stating otherwise! They have threatened not to accept current unemployment benefit forms as proof to get unemployment discount at all, despite no signs stating otherwise! They do not allow any concessions on Lord Of The Rings: Return Of the King, but do not advertise this fact! The Manageress we spoke to was unfriendly, rude, unhelpful and had no real knowledge of Trading Standards practices.' This from Charlie Grigg: 'The comments bout The Central Cinema, Barnstaple was well bad!!!! The staff r really friendly and helpful. The comment from Trevor Garmen was totally wrong they DO offer student discount (as I am one!) He is obviously blind as it clearly says "Student/OAP discount available." Although it is only Monday to Thursday, its better then nothing! And this includes all films. Next time get ur facts right!!!!' This from Anonymous: 'Hey, I work at the cinema in barnstaple and it is the most joyous experience in the world. I hope to remain there for many years and eventually rise to a managerial position... No, in all reality I'm a college student working there for a bit of extra money, and all we have to do is sit and watch films all day. Before you get all narky realise this - there are no perks to working at the cinema, not even free popcorn so we get just as bad a deal as you guys. Stop complaining, get pirate films and you don't have to pay extortionate amounts of money or suffer the cinema surroundings.' |
