If you have visited this cinema and would like to say a few words about it to be posted here, please e-mail me. Picture by: Linda, who says it was a rotten day when she took this picture! This from Phil Moores: 'My wife and I are regulars at this wonderful cinema. Although it's nothing special architecturally (I think it was a theatre first, then an electrical showroom), Jude and Geoff Simpson have given those of us who live in the Yorkshire Dales a cultural jewel. Their film booking policy is varied and brave, with art-house and foreign films making up over 50% of the programming. Also, at the Elite, cinema viewing is as relaxed and civilised as it should be - after buying your ticket, you can leave your coat on your seat and go downstairs for a drink in the bar, there are no children making a nuisance of themselves and no mobile phone conversations taking place. The cinema celebrated its 10th birthday last week and I can't imagine what kind of a cinematic desert this part of the Yorkshire Dales would be without it.' This from Sue & Paul Clarke: 'Just visited this terrific cinema for the first time. Even though we live an hours drive away, it's well worth the journey. It is so well cared for, lovely and clean - no sticky patches on carpet or seats, no musty smell. We were pleasantly surprised at the number of patrons on a weekday afternoon. Looking forward to our next visit already. Grateful thanks to all concerned.' |
