UGC Cinemas: Ipswich.
If you have visited this cinema and would like to say a few
words about it to be posted here, please e-mail

This
from
Paul:
'The
Ipswich UGC, now CineWorld was opened on May 1st
1998. It was at the time a flagship cinema for Virgin Cinemas.
It boasted 3 THX screens and had digital sound (Dolby &
DTS) in all of its 11 screens. All screens are a good size with the largest
seating 510 and the smallest 80 - with
luxury reclining seats - part of the old premier screen that
Virgin operated. Since the cinema was taken over by UGC it has
gone down hill, the seats are badly damaged and in need of
repair. It is no longer THX certified (great pity as it used
to sound amazing) and the presentation of scope films is often
messed up. This is a great pity too because as a modern cinema it is a
nice place to see films. Hopefully CineWorld will put some
money into the site and make it as good as it once was,
especially as the Odeon has now closed.'
