Overview

When a young couple vacations on an exotic island, they encounter a dangerous fugitive who is determined to keep them from leaving.

Embark on an adrenaline-packed journey with the latest trailer for the action film “Escaping Paradise,” directed by filmmaker Paul Tanter and brought to you by Black Mandala + Tubi. The film, previously showcased at a festival earlier this year, receives a spotlight as Tubi gears up for its premiere, enticing audiences with a glimpse into the pulse-pounding narrative. Set against the backdrop of what appears to be the Philippines, this campy action thriller follows a young couple on a seemingly idyllic vacation, only to cross paths with a menacing fugitive determined to shatter their paradise.

While the trailer tantalizes with the promise of suspense, the exotic locale, and a perilous escape, the film raises eyebrows with the absence of a clear mention of the Philippines. It seems like another project crafted to blend business with pleasure, resulting in an action film that may not garner much attention. The cast includes Deji LaRay, Shayla Hale, Michael Bacalso, Ken Bressers, Andrew Davis II, Kylah Dela Peña, and Simon Phillips as Kane, who conveniently sports the classic action movie twist—former Black Ops and firearms expert.

Directed by British indie producer and filmmaker Paul Tanter, known for his diverse filmography, including “Jack Falls,” “The Rise & Fall of a White Collar Hooligan,” and “The Fall of the Essex Boys,” “Escaping Paradise” promises a gripping narrative.

The screenplay, crafted by Deji LaRay (who also stars in the film), weaves a tale of danger, deception, and suspense. The film is produced by Winston Cabico, Thomas Q. Jones, Deji LaRay, Simon Phillips, and DeNorvious Pickett. Catch the streaming debut of “Escaping Paradise” on Tubi starting July 8th, 2023, courtesy of Black Mandala.
