Resident Evil: Death Island is the fifth installment and fourth film in the animated Resident Evil series. The film is set in the same universe as the Resident Evil video games and takes place in 2015, falling between the events of Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. It is a continuation of the previous CGI film, Resident Evil: Vendetta.

The plot revolves around two separate storylines involving Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield. Leon, a D.S.O. agent, is on the trail of kidnappers who have taken Dr. Antonio Taylor, a scientist with classified information. However, his mission gets sidetracked by a mysterious woman who appears out of nowhere. Meanwhile, Chris, a B.S.A.A. agent, is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco. The infected victims all recently visited Alcatraz Island, leading Chris and his team to the island to find answers. However, they discover that a new evil has taken residence on the island, and it becomes a place of horror and danger for them.

The film is directed by Eiichirō Hasumi, and Makoto Fukami serves as a producer. The voice cast includes Matthew Mercer as Leon S. Kennedy, Kevin Dorman as Chris Redfield, and Nicole Tompkins as Jill Valentine. Other characters include Rebecca Chambers, Claire Redfield, and Ingrid Hunnigan, voiced by Erin Cahill, Stephanie Panisello, and Salli Saffioti, respectively.

The movie is set to release in Japan on July 7, 2023, and will be available on Blu-ray and Digital three weeks later worldwide, on July 25. A teaser and a full trailer have already been released, promising gruesome and action-packed scenes within the deadly confines of Alcatraz Island.
