As of July 20, 2023, there is a news report stating that actor Ryan Gosling offered his “most prized possession,” a guitar he used in the upcoming Barbie movie, to BTS star Jimin. This gesture came after Gosling noticed that Jimin had worn the same outfit in a BTS music video that he wore in the Barbie movie.
In a video shared on the Barbie Twitter account, Gosling addressed Jimin and acknowledged the similarity in their outfits. He playfully mentioned that there is an “unspoken Ken code” that if one Ken (referring to his character in the movie) copies another Ken’s style, they have to give them their most prized possession. Therefore, he decided to give Jimin his guitar as a humble offering since he believes Jimin wore the outfit best.
The outfit in question is a black Western shirt with white fringe, which Jimin had previously worn in BTS’ “Permission to Dance” music video in 2021. Ryan Gosling sported the same look in a new film directed by Greta Gerwig, featuring Margot Robbie and set to be released soon.
This isn’t the first time a BTS member has received a guitar as a gift. In 2021, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin gave Jin his guitar after a collaboration between BTS and Coldplay on the No. 1 hit “My Universe.” Jin expressed his excitement and surprise at receiving the guitar as a gift from a musician he greatly admired.
